About Us
Apte Sane & Associates (ASA) is an interdisciplinary firm of architects based in Pune, offering comprehensive architectural design & planning solutions. The firm founded on 1st January 1999, works intimately to redefine problems outside of normal boundaries and reach solutions based on a new understanding of complex situations with a keen eye for details.
The works include a variety of architectural and interior design projects including Educational, Institutional, Industrial & heavy engineering, Specialized industries such as Dairies & food-process plants, Laboratories & Healthcare, Religious and Private Residences. It is also actively involved in the Construction Management of these projects. Works are presently spread mainly across western Maharashtra districts like Pune, Raigad, Mumbai, Ratnagiri, Satara, Ahmednagar, Sangli, Kolhapur, Sholapur and Jalgaon.
We are constantly committed towards architecture which is in responsive to its environment. Conservation of resources is an important aspect of every project. Thus the endeavor to use locally available materials with suitable technology which has an ease of maintenance, while optimizing the resources and try to evolve better alternative methodologies.
The interdisciplinary approach to every design solution is specific for the expressed requirements of each project. We believe that the design needs to address the fundamental functional needs of the users, while addressing the needs of aesthetics, contextual requirements, climatic response, future provisions and enriching the experience to its end-users.
Our Story
The firm initially started as a partnership in 1999 between Late Ar. Vasant S. Apte and Ar. Aniruddha A. Sane. Later, Ar. Apte retired from the partnership in March 2009. The firm continues its practice presently, with Ar. Aniruddha Sane, as the ‘Design principal’ and provides consultancy with the same principles, values and ethos, as it was when the firm was founded.
Ar. Aniruddha Sane'
Ar. Aniruddha Sane completed B. Arch from the prestigious Sir J. J. College of Architecture, Bombay University in 1992 and also earned university scholarships. He then had initial training in Mumbai while working with Ar. Rumy Shroff & Associates, for over 6 years. His thoughts of private practice took roots when he shifted to Pune and formed Apte Sane & Associates. While in practice and vigorously leading the ASA team, he completed M. Arch (Construction Management) from YCMOU in 2016 with a Master’s thesis on Managing Construction Timelines for mid-sized Dairy Plants.
He passionately works on projects requiring lot of detailing, technical co-ordination with various agencies and specializes in Dairy & Food-process industry, Industrial architecture, Educational institutional, commercial, interior design, architectural re-engineering works, health-care facilities and campus planning of varying magnitudes and other projects requiring multitude of skills or complex construction methodologies with innovative practices.
He is invited as a guest faculty at a few architecture colleges in and around Pune and ardently talks on topics of construction management, professional practice and design. He is a Fellow member of the Indian Institute of Architects and Patron Member of AESA (Architects Engineers & Surveyors Association), Pune and Registered with Council of Architecture, New Delhi, under the Architects Act of 1972. He is also certified graphologist and an avid trekker who is zealous about sketching and photography during treks.
Philosophy
At Apte Sane & Associates, we place a high priority on cost and time control, while maintaining the desired quality. When the design is initiated, developed and implemented, emphasis is laid on gelling local resources with regards to each site with external expertise for specialized inputs.
While we strive to develop long term association with our clients through our work, with complete transparency in functioning, to match the client’s needs, objective and resources in delivering the works, we also believe in designing structures that are in harmony with humanity and its environment.
A ‘hands-on’ site-specific approach is adopted while designing the built environment. Any building design is open to review and refinement until not implemented, there-by coming up with innovation at times and better value for time and money.
